You can't beat the thunder of horses hooves on turf to charge your excitement, apart from having backed the winning horse, that is !! Now in Mijas on the Costa del Sol, horse racing is a huge added attraction to the Costa del Sol's favourite holiday destination.
The track is the focal point of what is to be a complete leisure resort to include a show jumping arena, sports "track and field" stadium and a five-star hotel.
The Hipodromo Costa del Sol has two tracks, with floodlighting for night racing, and a grandstand accommodating 5000 spectators, in addition we have trackside seating for a further 5000.
The prize money is the highest in Spain and the season lasts throughout the winter months when most other tracks are closed. Our racing season is October to May.
In addition to Racing the Hipodromo Costa del Sol provides excellent winter stabling for race horses from the North of Europe and other countries. The riding school offers lessons for beginners and for budding jockeys.
The Hipodromo is only twenty minutes from Malaga International Airport and within easy reach of beaches, hotels and golf courses of Mijas and La Cala.
From the stands there are spectacular views to the Mediterranean Sea and to the surrounding mountains of Mijas.
