Until recently this delightful cottage belonged to a local fisherman - his family having lived here and fished the local waters for generations. Now sympathetically restored by the new English owners, it simply oozes charm and character. The cottage is reached via the winding village streets so typical of the white pueblos in Andalucia.
The entrance to the cottage is up six steps to a delightful patio where you can sit and watch village life unfold around you. The local people are so friendly and before long you will find them waving and greeting you as they pass by. If you can speak just a few words of Spanish your efforts will be greatly appreciated.
Once inside the front door you are in the lounge and from there, to the modern kitchen and the bathroom.
The cottage is decorated and furnished with artwork and driftwood furniture by the artist "Bic". On the upper level is the double bedroom and terrace, from this vantage point there are spectacular views across the rooftops to the beach and Salobreña Castle.
A more romantic setting would be difficult to find - an ideal location for honeymoons and couples looking to escape to a time gone by.
The village has a bakery, small supermarket, and a green grocers shop as well as two very Spanish bars where you will enjoy meeting your neighbours.
La Caleta has a tiny harbour and from the jetty it is possible to walk for miles along the winding footpaths, passing the occasional beach as you go - the coastline is excellent for scuba diving and snorkeling enthusiasts.
The Sierra Nevada mountains are clearly visible from La Caletta, snow capped from November 'til June. The ski resort is about 75 minutes drive from the beach.
