At the Western end of the Costa Tropical, Almuñecar is a fairly recent dicovery as far as the North European holiday maket is concerned. Until recent times a small quiet fishing town it manitains much of it's Andalucian, simple charm.
Watersports and long promenades are two of the hallmarks of Almuñecar. There is an excellent splash park during the summer months, numerous dive centres, An International Yachting marina and evry other water sport you could imagine.
The Botanical Gardens are located just at the end of San Cristobal beach below the old Moorish Castle. The gardens are home to a charming aviary and is host to many festivals including the annual open air Jazz festival.
Almuñecar is a good shopping centre and has large market each Friday plus a fascinating "Flea Market on the first Saturday of every month.
Aqua Park Tropical in Almuñecar is open throughout the summer months and great fun for the entire family.
