The Hotel Casablanca in Almuñecar is a wonderful place to sit and see the world go by. If you can manage to secure a table on the terrace during the Easter festival you will be enthralled by the procession and the spectacular floats.
San Cristobal promenade and beach are popular with old and young alike. Sundays and Wednesdays throughout the year (apart from July and August) you will be able to watch teams playing Boulle on the beach. Almuñecar is a popular center for competition Boulle.
The promenade is long and flat lending itself ideally to the "Paseo" see and be seen especially on Sunday mornings between 11am and 2 pm.
From 2 pm onwards the beach side restaurants are packed with Spanish families who love to meet up for Sunday lunch all year round.
La Herradura beach like Almuñecar is long and welcoming. There are a number of Dive Schools operating here two of them having their own training pools.
There are lots of little coves and beaches along the coast line of the Costa Tropical - some are easily accessed by car like the beach at Marina del Este above - some are spectacular but require a bit more effort to get to. They are well worth the effort and you may be the only ones on the beach.

The Yachting Harbour of Marina del Esté is a delight to visit. Well protected from the prevailing winds the harbour has a selection of fine restaurants and bars - and not to expensive.
There can be few better places to enjoy a freshly caught piece of fish than here. Sit next to the ocean going yachts on a balmy summers evening and....................................!!
The coastline of the Natural Park between La Herradura and Nerja is dotted with wonderful little beaches.
In Almuñecar the old sugar factory above is now used as a Tourist Information Office and Museum
A beach side restaurant in La Herradura.
Because of the mountain backdrop to the Costa Tropical the area is very popular with Hang Gliding enthusiasts and Para Gliders. Often as many as twenty or thirty will cruise over the area at the same time coming to land eventually on the local beaches.
There are a number of Hang Gliding schools and clubs in the area.
